This automated steel swing gate provides an attractive, permanent way to control vehicle access while maintaining convenient pedestrian access to the property. The open steel design complements the wooded residential setting without visually closing off the entrance.
The automated steel swing gate spans approximately three-quarters of the driveway. The remaining opening allows visitors on foot to enter without requiring the driveway gate to open.
The automated gate system includes a keypad for code-based entry, automatic closing and battery backup to keep the gate operational if electrical power is lost. The homeowner also added lighting to improve the gate’s visibility after dark.
The steep grade presented an important installation consideration. Because the driveway drops off sharply just a few feet from the gate pillar and footing, the installation required additional footings to reinforce and support the gate pillar.
